Blogging for Business
Once the preserve of diarists, blogs have matured and diversified beyond recognition. A blog is simply a publishing platform; a way to publish your content on the internet, easily and quickly, with no technical barriers and no limitations. Crucially, a blog allows you to give your business an informal, open tone that usually doesn’t sit well on a formal website. It allows you to talk directly to your customers, to increase your visibility on the web (Google loves blogs), to ‘humanise’ your business, and to build a successful brand in the social media space. In the 21st century, no business should be without a blog.
We will show you how to:
- Understand the importance of blogging as a marketing strategy
- Start and publish a blog
- Develop an effective writing style, tone of voice and blog ‘personality’
- Encourage interaction with your readers
- Comment on other blogs to drive traffic to your own
- Optimise your blog for search engines
- Integrate images and videos
- Integrate essential plugins and widgets
- Track and analyse your visitor traffic

About the Facilitator
Your Trainer
Kyle is a successful serial entrepreneur with a background in journalism and a focus on building brands through social media marketing. In 2005, he founded Scoopt.com, a social network of amateur photographers selling newsworthy photos and videos to the media. This was an innovative, disruptive model that used the power of web 2.0 technologies and network effects to grow a business with zero spend on advertising. Getty Images acquired Scoopt in 2007. Kyle subsequently headed a pioneering social media project for Channel 4. He currently helps companies exploit the social media toolset to reach new audiences in new ways.
