If you are a regular user of Microsoft Excel, this course will take you to an advanced level by looking in detail at functions that will enable you to set up spreadsheets and databases for others to use.
We will show you how to:
- Use Excel as a simple but sophisticated data base, selecting data and making summaries using Pivot Table and Pivot Chart reports
- Use advanced database techniques: the advanced filter, database calculation functions, consolidate data within a workbook and from external sources
- Use macros to automate tasks
- Lookup tables, revise IF and PMT functions
- Feel confident with named ranges, custom views and multiple sheet handling
- Use outline, subtotal and pivot tables; consolidate pivot tables and pivot charts
- Use macros and view a macro in visual basic; create macros by recording keystrokes and edit visual basic code
- Employ the “What IF?” tool using typical scenarios, the Problem Solver, the Goal Seeker, comments, concatenating, data validation, auditing a spreadsheet, data tables and arrays
- Save a file with a password, protect cells in a worksheet, hide worksheets, hide formulae, use templates and automatic operation
- Import and export data in different formats including text file operations

- Our trainers are experts in their topic and deliver courses in a practical, interactive style
- The maximum number of people on a training course is 12 so that the trainer can accommodate the learning needs of each delegate
- Each delegate is provided with a laptop and we use the most up to date technology
- A two course buffet lunch and unlimited tea and coffee are included in the price

Courses start at 9.30am and end at 4.30pm with half an hour for lunch
Is this the right course for me?
Yes, if you have a good understanding of Excel and have attended the Excel Intermediate course. Our trainer will assume you have prior knowledge of basic formulae, relative reference, absolute reference, page set-up and presentation.

Bob is comfortable supporting people to learn at introductory level and enjoys the challenge of helping people develop their skills at advanced level.

If your business is located in the West of Scotland you may be eligible for a grant of up to 50% of the cost of participating in these courses. There are a number of places available which are reserved for businesses with less than 250 employees and companies must meet certain eligibility criteria.
