Managing Successfully Within Employment Law

Employment law has changed significantly over the last few years and if you manage people it is in your interests and those of your company for you to be up to date. The number of Employment Tribunals has increased by 56% in the past year. Are you confident that your working practices comply with new and existing employment law? This course will give you a practical understanding of current legislation and help you ensure that your procedures comply with requirements. You will learn about:

  • What employers need to include in the ‘Written Statement of Terms & Conditions’ and how these can protect the company
  • Your role as a manager in ensuring your staff receive, understand and comply with their Written Statement of Terms and Conditions’
  • The current law on hours of work / break times / holidays - Working Time Regulations
  • How to successfully manage absence – both short term and long term
  • How to deal with disciplinary issues without compromising yourself and your company
  • Parents and carers – the rights of employees and employers
  • Discrimination – what it is, how it affects you and your company, how to manage it effectively
  • How to avoid situations that could lead to employment tribunals

About this workshop

  • This workshop will involve you in a mixture of interactive exercises and discussion.
  • Our trainers are experts in their topic and deliver courses in a practical, interactive style
  • The maximum number of people on a training course is 12 so that the trainer can accommodate the learning needs of each delegate
  • A two course buffet lunch and unlimited tea and coffee are included in the price

Timing

Courses start at 9.30 a.m. and end at 4.30 p.m. with half an hour for lunch.

Your Trainer

Catherine Catherine is a qualified paralegal in employment law and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

She has almost twenty years of experience of working in a human resources environment and has hands on experience of dealing with a wide range of employment related issues. She is an expert facilitator and delivers her training courses in a practical, easy to understand style.

Support available

If your business is located in the West of Scotland you may be eligible for a grant of up to 50% of the cost of participating in these courses. There are a number of places available which are reserved for businesses with less than 250 employees and companies must meet certain eligibility criteria.
