Are you a new first line manager or supervisor? Are you being required to take on more responsibility for the work of others? Over three days, our experienced trainers will help you prepare for your work ahead so that you can meet the everyday challenges of managing others with skill and confidence. You will improve your management skills by understanding the power of delegation, the importance of planning and communication and the value of delegation and motivation.
Day 1 - Making the transition to supervision/management
The aim of the first day is to enable you to:
- Understand your new roles and goals
- Understand what motivates individuals to work
- Recognise the individual ‘motivating keys’ of your team
- Match individual styles of leadership to specific circumstances
- Plan, organise, direct and control
- Analyse jobs in terms of results rather than activities
- Appreciate the value of feedback to the effectiveness of your team
Day 2 - Getting the best from your team
Day 2 will help you:
- Ensure that all team members contribute to the team effort
- Delegate with confidence – by becoming aware of the underlying principles
- Understand the supervisor’s role in the training process
- Develop a systematic approach to dealing with people problems
Day 3- Communicating Effectively
Day 3 concentrates on:
- Communication and its significance at work
- How you can become an effective communicator: identifying the skills and qualities you need
- Problem solving and decision making: adopting a systematic approach
- How to formulate clear, precise instructions
About this workshop
- This workshop will involve you in a mixture of interactive exercises and discussion. There will be opportunities to practise your new skills through role playing exercises in a supportive atmosphere
- Our trainers are experts in their topic and deliver courses in a practical, interactive style
- The maximum number of people on a training course is 12 so that the trainer can accommodate the learning needs of each delegate
- A two course buffet lunch and unlimited tea and coffee are included in the price
Timing
Courses start at 9.30 a.m. and end at 4.30 p.m. with half an hour for lunch.

Your Trainer
Judith is a supportive, motivational trainer who is passionate about helping individuals to develop their skills. She has extensive experience in training, coaching and developing people and focuses on helping others succeed and grow. Judith has a Certificate in Professional Coaching and has a MA (Hons) in Management Studies & Psychology.
Support available
If your business is located in the West of Scotland you may be eligible for a grant of up to 50% of the cost of participating in these courses. There are a number of places available which are reserved for businesses with less than 250 employees and companies must meet certain eligibility criteria.
